WHAT YOU BELIEVE IN EVENTUALLY TRANSLATES TO WHAT YOU TRULY ADMIRE.

Which is why she defines ethics & the strategy of preparation.

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia A reflection, finest of all textile; cut from the cloth of peace and healthy values. Education wasn't a negotiable option in her household, it was the rule of thumb. More importantly, it was led by great examples; a father with an extraordinary resume as an economist and administration professional as a mother in the insurance industry. Early, she learned the importance in planning, executing, assisting others and humble beginnings.

My first impression, that she appeared to be really happy and cheerful. Extremely witty, sharp, quick on her feet, I even felt she has this ability to change the forecast of a room with her positive energy. She smiles, my peers viewed me as very decent, remembering being a student at a preparatory school. She felt she was just an average student, spending much of her spare time on the weekends volunteering, teaching orphan children at the Abebech Gobena Children's Care and Development Association. She really enjoyed and took pride in committing to community service.

“A person should accept what has already been given to them, even if it's not what he or she wanted because not everything is possible”

She was born Mariamawit Mesefen, an Addis Ababa native. Maria's early years started in the sub-city of Semene Mazegaja, later moving to Gerji. In her teens she attended an all girls secondary academy called “Nazareth School”. Thereafter, Maria entered the Chemical Engineering Program at The University of Addis Ababa, where she earned her Bachelor Science Degree. She explains, even if I was uninterested in the field of science. I have accepted the fact a job is hard to come by, so I am going to appreciate and work with the opportunity in front of me. Maria quotes, “A person should accept what has already been given to them, even if it’s not what he or she wanted because not everything is possible”.

In fact, she had plans to work for a sugar factory right after college but life took a turn and led her directly into the petroleum industry. She began her professional career with Naztech Petroleum, not long after, she started working for Tensae Aklilu Fuel (TAF). Today, the 29 year old is currently working at the National oil Ethiopia (NOC), as the Lubricant Sale Representatives. NOC markets one of the world’s leading lubricant brands Chevron-Caltex Lubricants, and maintains a major market share in Ethiopia’s Oil Industry with the supply of over 100 different lubricant grades of Industrial and Automotive applications.

“Today's work is the result of tomorrow’s success”

Maria's ultimate goal is to open her own restaurant in the near future. Having passion for cooking, she explains, I do not negotiate when it comes down to living a healthier life.

Usually I like to eat local organic foods, specially fasting foods are her favorite such as Injera with ' misir wot’, her usual choice.

‘I am here to serve God in every way I possibly can, ‘she states. Currently reading a spiritual book titled “Disappointment with God” by Philip Yancy. The Author suggests, “for whose experiences don’t match up to their expectations, and are asking three questions of God – why he appears so a) unfair, b) silent and c) hidden… The three questions become less about whether God is holding up his end of a bargain, and more about how a broken relationship between creator and creation is restored.” Due to my personal relationship with God, she explains. It pleases me, when I help others in such a way. Especially nowadays, I feel in this world we live in, it’s difficult to help others financially. Certainly, it's more than helpful when we start to listen to the problems of others from the bottom of our hearts.

Maria believes, when we love ourselves , we also love others as a result of it. When we support ourselves we will support others. Her advice to Habesha women is the same, adding it’s inappropriate to ignore any past incidents, we must learn from previous challenges and obstacles. In fact, allow it to help us in looking forward to achieving our goals. Finally, she suggests for those women not to lose hope and have faith in themselves to become successful.
