Inferiority | Discrimination | Sexual Harassment | Domestic Violence | Rape
ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia — Let's begin a needful discussion about recognizing & appreciating women everyday. One needs food for mobility as to what fuel is to an vehicle. One needs a spiritual connection for guidance and one can't exist with out the presence of a woman. Addition to, many of us are required to pray 2-5 times a day, eat 3 times a day and drink 8 glasses of water a day. All of this isn't possible without the womb of a woman.
"If there isn't a woman there is no life".
Celebrating once a year isn't an acknowledgment nor is it valuing women appropriately. We can't get the gender equality from a one day celebration that happens annually. Globally, we need society to know and understand "if there isn't a woman there is no life". My opposition is, were not making a difference. For the first time, In the 21st Century we have the capability of interacting and learning from other cultures around the world. This level of advancement is due to the growth of technology. Yet, for some odd reason none of this encourages society to stop believing the mindset of a woman doesn't matters and our voices shouldn't be heard. So, today I advocate that we as women needs to correct this problem ourselves.
"Dear sisters, we have to get up and do something we haven't done before, let us not be afraid of what's on the outside of the box. Everything we ever wanted is there at our disposal".
Many countries today, still the woman's voice isn't heard nor is it considered equal to men. Unfortunately this issue has now come to surface on varies social media platforms. A global issue backed by laws and policies preventing us as women from growing, I say ENOUGH! We're constantly having to deal with discrimination in the workplace and a system making fundamental decision about our bodies, I say ENOUGH. What is the fear behind accepting women as equal and celebrating our presence and maternalism. We only ask for what is deserved, our rights as women.
My Open Letter
Dear sisters, we have to get up and do something we haven't done before, let us not be afraid of what's on the outside of the box. Everything we ever wanted is there at our disposal. Being strong doesn't start in the gym, it starts inside of our heads. Ladies we have to build, exercise our minds and strategize to make a difference. No one should make us feel inferior no more. Give yourself the power, the written consent to be the best version of yourself. If we stand together we become stronger than ever before.
I've heard to many stories of young women being asked for sex in exchange for a job or a passing grade in some schools there in Addis. It is a world wide problem
